We started out trying acupuncture in Ginger’s middle age when she was about 9, as she was hopping on the back left leg and we knew from x rays that there was arthritis in this joint as well as in her lower back. A few acupuncture sessions with Ami and Ginger’s back leg skip had gone and she was trotting evenly to the park and back. Ginger continued to see Ami every couple of months, and then last year Ginger, at nearly 12 years old, had a major back injury and lost use of her back legs. Ami was the first person I called as she is a fully qualified vet as well as an acupuncture specialst. The medical solution from the emergency vet clinic was extreme rest, which we followed, but Ami also treated Ginger weekly from the time of the injury. Her calm and knowledgeable style, combined with her ability to do home visits, made these visits so reassuring and stress free for Ginger (and me). Ginger recovered close to miraculously, and is now trotting on all 4 paws, with only some residual weakness in her back legs. She loves Ami’s visits for acupuncture every month and happily settles on the rug with peanut butter Kong, while Ami puts the pins in. She often lies down for a doze during the acupuncture sessions. "Dr Hensley acupuncture services is more than that, she is a veterinarian who can help your pet with additional needs like injections which is a huge benefit because as my black lab got older, having her come to our home is a blessing. Acupuncture was recommended by his other vets to help him with arthritis pain relief and weak hindlegs. Ami also helped us with GI issues and appetite which she educated me on the many benefits of acupuncture after discussing his health history during the initial visit. After a few sessions, I could see major improvements on his mobility which we continued to maintain with regular sessions.
Dr Hensley is an amazing veterinarian. She is professional, caring, patient, compassionate, detail orientated, observant, listens well, and asks very insightful questions to help tailor the proper treatment for your pet. She truly shows how much she cares with follow ups each time looking for updates. She goes above and beyond to help with some vet related items you might need for your senior pet. She came to my aid in an emergency when I needed a last-minute appointment as my 13 year old lab was not feeling well and would not eat. Thinking it was a GI episode, which he would have at times and that needles would help, she determined quickly after evaluating him there was something else and suspected aspiration pneumonia; a chest x-ray later that afternoon confirmed her diagnosis, and we were able to start antibiotics right away. I am so grateful to have found Ami, and for her kindness, friendship, and support. I highly recommend to other pet parents to incorporate Ami's acupuncture services into their pet’s wellbeing plan.
